With much convincing from Ayden, I have decided to finally start a blog to keep our family and friends up to speed on our busy lives. I am often so consumed by work, school, doctor's appointments, and being a mom, that I tend to lose touch with many of you that I do not see on a regular basis. Not to worry, we are all doing well. So what's been new in the Davis-Schroeder household? Caydence has just graduated from preschool and will be starting kindergarten in August. That's right, baby girl is growing up on us all. She is pretty excited to have gotten accepted into the math magnet school in a neighboring town, which means she will get to attend school with her brother. Cady has recently discovered the world of art, more specifically painting. Just last week she described to me an "easy" (not to be confused with "easel" lol) and how we really need to go and get her one to have here at home like she has at Nani's house. I am hoping to get some pictures of her masterpieces up very soon. This painting stuff is serious business and requires absolute concentration, perfect lighting, and at least 3 capri sun pouches per painting. Ayden will be my big second grader in the fall. We are very optimistic that with the help of additional therapists for his autism, that he will be able to remain in the regular classroom with "non-disabled" peers again next year. Ayden still spends most of his evenings in the kitchen cooking, and has reassured me, as well as his teachers, that he IS going to be a chef and go to culinary school. He also spends a lot of free time playing with legos, his new favorite toy, and anything Star Wars related. Ayden recently beat his first video game (Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, of course), and is quite proud of this accomplishment.
As we wrap the 2010-2011 school year up, we are all very anxious to say hello to warm weather, vacation, cook-outs, swimming, and that stranger we call the sun. Yes, you read that right. I did not include the Chicago Cubs in that last sentence. While morning sickness couldn't keep me away from a home opener, there is one thing that can....Mike Quade. The highlight of the summer is sure to be "Gram" and "PawPaw"'s visit to Illinois. Cady and Ayden are already hard at work planning out each day's events. I'm sure the mall and Buffalo Wild Wings are at the top of the to-do list.
The three of us are looking forward to keeping all of you posted on music, food, art, life, and whatever else fate throws at us. Please feel free to leave comments and/or subscribe to our blog! Have a great summer everyone :-)
