First day of summer vacation....

Caydence, Ayden, Oscar and I spent the first day of summer vacation from school with our good friends Danielle, AJ, Arianna, and Anthony. Caydence was so excited because she misses her best friend, Arianna, and her "boyfwend", AJ, as she calls him. We went to Bird Park which is a local park set on the Kankakee River. Within the park is the Splash Pad, where the kids played in the water while the adults had some time to catch up. We couldn't have picked a better day to go than this 97 degree Saturday afternoon. Our visit to the splash pad was unfortunately cut short when the tornado sirens went off. We weren't about to let "a little rain" keep us from ending our day with a cookout. Oscar grilled brats and turkey burgers, Ayden made corn-on-the-cob and baked beans, Cady helped make cucumber salad and the 4 of us had a delicious dinner. It was so good to be able to see the kids playing and enjoying the warm weather. Hoping to make this a weekend ritual :-)
